Galerie McKenzie Marcotte in Wakefield Qc is pleased to present an exhibition of wood fired ceramic sculpture by Raymond Warren. The pieces, based on the theme of altitude, have in common either the experience of elevation by various means such as soaring on a swing or walking on stilts or the suggestion of altitude as the figures gaze at the skies. Ceramics produced in wood fire kilns are exciting and unpredictable and these are certainly both.

Hidden in the heart of Sutton, in the Eastern Townships, The Sutton Sculpture Garden offers visitors the chance to enjoy both abstract and figurative sculpture in an  intimate garden setting. This year's special exhibition entitled '4' showcases four sculptors all of whom have chosen to make their homes in Sutton: David James (ELAN member), Eddie zHeath, Marek Latzmann and France Chevrette.

The Canadian Cancer Society and PhotSensitive present a group exhibition bringing together professional and amateur photographers to share their stories of people touched by cancer. This free public exhibition will run in Montreal from Sep 3-28 and in many major cities through to 2010.

Alternative Art illustrates extreme mental states, unconventional ideas, or elaborate fantasy worlds. There are several subcategories: Underground art is often a backlash against mainstream art and mainstream culture, Dark art depicts human emotional depths and fears in graphic detail, and Visionary art which is spiritually inspired.

Quixote is inspired by the life of Miguel de Cervantes and his classic work: Don Quixote. First developed as part of a workshop last January at John Abbott College, the show has been expanded to a three-week run in Montreal. Quixote is not a retelling of the Don Quixote story, but an examination of the novel, its author and the cultural phenomena that they have become. From customized masks to a wall of illuminated smoke, the innovative mise-en-scène liberates the historical Cervantes from his original context.

Shows at 8:00 PM, except Sunday and Monday. Sunday matinee at 2:00 PM.

Québec’s largest sculpture park with some 70 outdoor sculptures is now open at the winery Domaine des Côtes d’Ardoise. The sculptures are in metal, wood, stone, and ceramic. Some 30 artists from Québec have brought their works to the 8th annual exhibition.

This is my way to escape into a world that’s just like ours – but a kinder version. Why can’t you have vast orchards in the middle of a city? Why are subdivisions – fragmented and false communities – so prevalent? Why can’t you build within existing geography and historical structures? Six Cities is an observation of the places I have travelled throughout North America this past year.

Montreal Film Mavericks Set To Release DIY Feature

Kidnapper Films is ready to launch its long awaited feature length project, Who is KK Downey? Set in Montreal’s Mile End neighborhood, the film tells the story of Terrence, a young hipster hungry for fame and notoriety, who along with his best friend, Theo, creates a literary sensation by posing as a troubled young author. It made its Canadian debut at the Fantasia Film Festival, where the Montreal Mirror’s Matthew Hays called it the “funniest comedy of the year”. Variety’s John Anderson says it’s “…a truly funny movie”. Opens nationwide this fall.
