Hidden in the heart of Sutton, in the Eastern Townships, The Sutton Sculpture Garden offers visitors the chance to enjoy both abstract and figurative sculpture in an  intimate garden setting. This year's special exhibition entitled '4' showcases four sculptors all of whom have chosen to make their homes in Sutton: David James (ELAN member), Eddie zHeath, Marek Latzmann and France Chevrette.

The Canadian Cancer Society and PhotSensitive present a group exhibition bringing together professional and amateur photographers to share their stories of people touched by cancer. This free public exhibition will run in Montreal from Sep 3-28 and in many major cities through to 2010.

This tribute to Warhol’s “Silver Factory” of the 1960s will take place in an artist-run loft not dissimilar to the original, reuniting artists from across the country to create performances and installations exploring the spirit of the Factory from a contemporary perspective. Co-curated by David Allan King and Miriam Ginestier, the event will feature a central lounge surrounded by a walk-thru maze of interactive exhibits.

"In these paintings I have sought the inspiration of water, soil, and the colors of nature to explore the roles and experiences of women from mythological times to the present. The ancient statuette of ancient goddess, known as 'Venus', is an archetypical representation of woman's life-giving role; her Iranian analogue is Anahita, goddess of the waters in Persian's myth, also seen as a source of life. In my own life, I have known no more evocative symbol of female strength than my grandmother, who passed away in September 2007. I offer this exhibition as a tribute to her memory."

Michael Sproule has returned again and again to western Canada because in the western plains, foothills and mountains, he has found land formations whose complex geology intrigues and inspires him. In his dramatic and colourful paintings, there is evidence of cataclysmic upheavals, of erosion and of deposition. From his paintings of the surging glacial outwash areas of the western plains and Badlands to the tranquil ebb and flow of foothills country, Michael Sproule’s interest in the geological phenomena behind the changing landscape provides the underlying structure for his work.

History, memory and the artist’s eye are the inspirations that bring together a group of visual artists, historians, dramatists, musicians, storytellers and sound artists to create a multimedia and multicultural event this September in Pointe St-Charles and St-Henri.

ArPi, Judith Brisson, Joséane Brunelle, Henry Buszard, Clea Haugo, Scott MacLeod, Tristan Tondino, Faisal Lutchmedial, Edmund Nash, Julia Ainsworth, David Fennario. As well as historians Joyce Pillarella and Jean Bélisle. Lisa Gasior and Chris Galanis will present a walking-tour. A Brief Canadian History will perform their latest music.

Expand your horizons.Blue Sky Artists represents artists from smaller Northern Communities. Far from the urban landscape, their unique works offer a refreshing view of the world around us.

Québec’s largest sculpture park with some 70 outdoor sculptures is now open at the winery Domaine des Côtes d’Ardoise. The sculptures are in metal, wood, stone, and ceramic. Some 30 artists from Québec have brought their works to the 8th annual exhibition.

Oooo! is a touching and powerful comedy about the lives of a group of clowns in Nazi Germany. Charlie Rivel, the most tender of clowns, is forced to perform for Hitler, the most barbaric of dictators. Can art be guiltless? Does it have to submit to power? Can an artist remain apolitical in the midst of political chaos?

Written by Gerard Vàzquez, translated by Elisabet Ràfols and Michael Bantjes, and directed by Andrew Shaver. With Alain Goulem (lead role), Graham Cuthbertson, Patrick Costello, Jesse Todd & Tobias Goulem, Alain's 11-year old son.

Montreal Film Mavericks Set To Release DIY Feature

Kidnapper Films is ready to launch its long awaited feature length project, Who is KK Downey? Set in Montreal’s Mile End neighborhood, the film tells the story of Terrence, a young hipster hungry for fame and notoriety, who along with his best friend, Theo, creates a literary sensation by posing as a troubled young author. It made its Canadian debut at the Fantasia Film Festival, where the Montreal Mirror’s Matthew Hays called it the “funniest comedy of the year”. Variety’s John Anderson says it’s “…a truly funny movie”. Opens nationwide this fall.

Wendy McNeill (a world travelling songstress who currently resides in Sweden) will be sharing an evening of live original music with Mtl. accordionist/singer Willow Rutherford at O Patro Vys in Mtl. on Saturday Sept.20th. Be prepared for magic realism and guest appearances from members of the Unsettlers, the ex-Subcollisions, Salive, rapper Maurcio Cuataz, flamenco guitarist Jheinsen Montalvo and many more.
