Mireille Proulx follows in the tradition of jazz-violin greats Stéphane Grappelli and Jean-Luc Ponty, using her classical background as a springboard to something new in music. In her highly distinctive composing, a unique and unmistakable voice has evolved on the contemporary jazz scene, where balms for the troubled soul exist in equal measure with invitations to reverie. Her work can be heard on three CDs: Il y avait des pélicans, Infini rendez-vous and more recently, Le jardin de nuit.  With John Sadowy on piano.

Inspired by Don Quixote's muse, Dulcinea del Toboso, Dulcinea takes on Cervantes' 'absent heroine'. She uses her namesake from the novel to express her vision of the world and its history.

We have the honour of presenting Ginette Laurin’s short film and Eryn Dace Trudell’s exciting Mama Dances each in their own ways exploring parent/child relationships. We also present Claude Godin and Clara Furey, elder and youthful dancers in a stimulating collaboration, Karen Bernard investigating her own aging process and Leigh Evans delving into ancestral body memories. It promises to be an enlightening show!

HyeKyong Yun

This exhibition is an objectification of HyeKyong’s self-portraiture onto other subjects. Its focus is on Asian males in their twenties; not yet men, but no longer boys. The loss of communication between the human being and the environment that surrounds him as he searches for his identity is exposed by the subject’s melancholy: a deep emptiness in his facial expression and gesture as he interacts with the world around him.

Alain Goulem directs the ‘Dream Team’ of Alex Haber, Neil Napier, and Michel Perron as two tourists and a maintenance worker trapped in a broken-down elevator on the 13th floor of a has-been hotel. Will they ever get it moving again? One catch: if they do, the only way they’re going is down – way, waaaaaaaay down! And is the janitor what he seems, or is that sulphur we smell?

All levels are welcome from first time amateurs who want to try the basic drawing exercise to professional artists honing their skills.

For 15$, you get small group sizes, a professional and experienced model, and perfect lighting and temperature. Most importantly a comfortable and creative atmosphere is assured. Plenty of red and white wine, cheeses, nuts etc. will be served. So come ready to eat, converse, drink and draw!

Othello, Shakespeare’s great and gripping masterpiece about the fall of a noble moor, a military hero, caught in a terrible web of self destruction This famous and timeless tragedy tells the story of a vulnerable man at the mercy of the force of evil. Shakespeare has created his hero, and the characters that surround him, in a fast paced drama full of powerful and conflicting emotions; love & hate, jealousy and ambition, sexual desire and individual integrity.

Shakespeare's timeless tragedy illustrates the devastating power of words to manipulate, persuade, and ultimately destroy. Othello, a noble moor, a military hero, is caught in a terrifying web of deceit in Shakespeare's gripping masterpiece. Brimming with disturbing and conflicting emotions: love and hate, jealousy and ambition, sexual desire and individual integrity, as the characters struggle against the forces that overpower them.  Playing at the McCord Museum in the Bombardier Theatre from November 13 to 29 at 8 PM, with weekday matinées at 1 PM and Sunday matinées at 2 PM.

In an eternal moment of déja-vu, on Dangerous Passes Road, three brothers attempt to confront the consequences of their father’s drowning thirteen years ago. Lines from his last poem repeat over and over in their heads - the same poem that had spun round and round in the whirlpool that pulled him down that day. Struggling to break the cycle, and striving for moments of frankness and lucidity, they repeat snatches of their conversation from that fateful day, over and over.  Playing Tues. through Sat. at 8 PM, with matinée on Sat. at 2 PM.

This is Tennessee Williams’s iconic tale of passion and dispassion in the heat of a 1950s Southern night. Brick and Maggie “The Cat” have returned to his father’s Mississippi plantation to celebrate the ailing Big Daddy’s birthday. Rivalry and intrigue abound as everyone fights over who will succeed the old man and assume control over the property. Through all the bickering and fighting, everyone tries desperately to hold onto whatever happiness and dignity the family still possesses. But a storm is brewing, and they are powerless to stop it.

Welcome to the Land of Mu, a mysterious sunken continent off the coast of Japan, where ancient science and spirituality were One, and where ancestral human beings explored strange and surreal soundscapes atop temples and pyramids.

The Land of Mu, mythical originator of all ancient cultures of early Peru and Japan, can be visited again, for one night only. Sat. Nov.15th, 9pm, music starts @ 10pm
