HERE+THERE
Belgo Building 372 Ste-Catherine St. W #527, Montreal
HyeKyong Yun
Vernissage: Friday, November 14th, 2008, 5 to 8 pm
This exhibition is an objectification of HyeKyong’s self-portraiture onto other subjects. Its focus is on Asian males in their twenties; not yet men, but no longer boys. The loss of communication between the human being and the environment that surrounds him as he searches for his identity is exposed by the subject’s melancholy: a deep emptiness in his facial expression and gesture as he interacts with the world around him.

The Diminticato Family Circus
The Studio at the Segal Centre for the Performing Arts, 5170 Côte-Ste-Catherine, Montréal
In this show, spectators can expect to witness juggling, acrobatics, roue Cyr, live music and clown, all seamlessly interwoven into a sublime narrative arc. A show for adults that children will thoroughly enjoy, both comic and poetic, the show invokes the precarious balance of familial relationships and loyalties through the circus disciplines it employs. It is a meditation on the power and vicissitudes of romantic and familial love, and an invitation to succumb to the collective imagination.

The Uncertainty Project
Maison de la Culture Maisonneuve, 4200 Ontario East
Montreal choreographer Valerie Buddle premiers her latest creation, entitled The Uncertainty Project.
The Uncertainty Project explores the fact that global events surrounding our lives are founded on uncertainty. Liberty and security are principles discarded in the face of disaster and tragedy. The piece reflects upon the human response to profound uncertainty and the inherent vulnerability and resiliency of the human character.
Valerie Buddle is a graduate of Concordia University's contemporary dance program. She has presented her work at the fFIDA International Dance Festival, the Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival, the St. Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival and Series 8:08.
