Agatha Schwager, Forces of Nature, Galerie Luz
Galerie Luz Edifice Belgo, Galerie I 372, rue Ste-Catherine O., suite 418, Montréal, QC

Drawing on her fascination with the influence of Chinese brush painting on Old Dutch Masters, Agatha Schwager's eleventh solo exhibition, Forces of Nature, reflects both of these sources of inspiration. Like imaginary birds over a stormy ocean, memory and ideas fly spontaneously onto the paper. Using plant-based indigo paints, she explores the most essential of elements, water and the power of the rising sea.

Lili Handel
372 Ste-Catherine W, 3rd floor, #303

Ivo Dimchev, all-round artist with roots in physical theatre tells the story of the aging diva Lili Handel in an androgynous performance of shocking intensity. The tragedy of her fading beauty that makes her into a faceless and genderless creature reaches down into the depths of her physical being. Dimchev sings his song with the voice of a eunuch. And that ancient desire of the stage diva to give the public her innermost life appears sinisterly transformed in Dimchev’s attempt to auction his own blood, drawn live, to the highest bidder.

Two-Wheeler Productions remount "The King of Fifteen Island"
Theatre Ste. Catherine 264 Ste. Catherine E. www.theatrestecatherine.com

Two-Wheeler Productions remounts “The King of Fifteen Island”, last year’s Fringe hit and award-winning comedy by Jeremy Taylor, directed by Tanner Harvey, December 11-16, 2007 at Theatre Ste-Catherine.

Loosely inspired by the Principality of Sealand, a naval platform in international waters which was seized and declared independent by a family of British ex-patriots, The King of Fifteen Island proves that truth can be stranger, and indeed funnier, than fiction.

Unbuckling My Bible Belt
Ex-Centris, 35365 St. Laurent

Patricia and Laura, the two women crew, criss-cross the Bible Belt—seven states, from Georgia to Texas. They encounter the extraordinary and eccentric members of Laura’s family, including Christian militants in Atlanta, philosophical cowboys in Texas, a pastor crazed by the Rapture in Missouri, an ex-fundamentalist, now Buddhist drag-queen, and various other friends and relatives. Unbuckling My Bible Belt skillfully captures the beauty and starkness of the landscape, as well as the complex relationship these Southerners have with their God. At a time when religion occupies a central position in American politics, the film offers a powerful look at the changing face of life in the USA.
