Email Addresses
For each visitor to our Web page, our Web server automatically recognizes no information regarding the domain or email address.
We collect the email addresses of those who register with us as members. An email address is not a requirement for membership, however, only those members who have provided an email address to us will be allowed to log in to the site in order to submit/update biographical information or showcase artworks. We also retain the email addresses of those who communicate with us via email. In order to monitor the overall activity that the website generates, we also retain aggregate information on what pages people access or visit, though none of this is member-specific.
Emails Sent by ELAN to Members
From time to time, ELAN administrators may contact members with information about upcoming events, reminders about deadlines for submitting information to the newsletter, or other time-sensitive information. We have no intention of bothering our members, nor do we wish to sell you anything. If you feel our communications in this manner are getting on your nerves, please let us know.
If you do not want to receive the ELANews email newsletter from us in the future, please let us know by sending us email at the above address, calling us at the above telephone number, writing to us at the above address, or visiting the newsletter subscription page.
Personal Information
The personal information we collect is used in order that we may contact our members should we need to. We retain information volunteered by the member, such as survey information and/or site registrations, name and address, telephone number, fax number. We do not publish any personal contact information about our members beyond their names and—should they choose for us to do so—their email address and personal website URL. Any biographical information provided by our members is published with the understanding that its purpose is to share that information with others on this website.
We require that members use a password-protected login solely for the purpose of maintaining the validity of member-specified information, such as contact information and showcase artwork details. Without the use of logins, any change to a member's information would have to be performed by ELAN administrators. We feel that providing the means to login directly allows our members to better keep their information as retained by ELAN both legitimate and current.
With respect to cookies: We use cookies solely to allow members to submit/update their information while logged in and to allow our server to better handle page requests. AT this time, no cookie information is retained once a member's visit has terminated. Some web browsers may retain cookie information beyond a user's visit, though it will be removed once the user's browser session has closed (ie. quit the browser program)
From time to time, we may use member information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. If our information practices change at some time in the future we will contact you before we use your data for these new purposes to notify you of the policy change and to provide you with the ability to opt out of these new uses, we will post the policy changes to our Web site to notify you of these changes and provide you with the ability to opt out of these new uses. If you are concerned about how your information is used, you should check back at our Web site periodically.
With respect to security: we do not store any sensitive information about our members.
Member Access to the Information we Store
Upon request we provide site visitors with access to all information [including proprietary information] that we maintain about them, unique identifier information (e.g., member ID or password‡) that we maintain about them, contact information (e.g., name, address, phone number) that we maintain about them, a description of information that we maintain about them.
‡ This is not strictly true. We cannot provide any member with their stored password, as they have all been obfuscated before being stored in our database. Members who forget or otherwise lose their password may easily have a new one generated by visiting this link. Requests for us to provide any member with a previously created password cannot be fulfilled. You will have to create a new one. Members can, however, change their password at a later time to anything they like, within the limits imposed by our password policy.
Members can access their information by logging in using their password. If, for any reason, a member cannot do so, the member can email us at the above address, write to us at the above address or call us at the above telephone number.
Upon request we offer visitors the ability to have inaccuracies corrected in contact or biographical information.
