The Banff Centre
Music, Sound Program and Audio Programs

The Banff Centre offers workshops, classes, masterclasses and other development programs for artists of different musical genres, as well as piano technician programs, audio programs and CD recording/sound engineering opportunities.

Many of these programs are subsidized, and include mentoring. Some are available on full scholarship. Programs run throughout the year.

The Canada Council for the Arts
Musical Instrument Bank Competition

This competition assists gifted classical musicians in enhancing their professional careers by awarding them a term loan of an exceptional instrument.

The objective of the Musical Instrument Bank is to assist gifted classical musicians in the development and enhancement of a professional solo or chamber music career through a term loan of a musical instrument. Competitions for the loan of an instrument are held when the instruments become available through new acquisition or termination of loan periods. To date, there are 10 exception instruments and a fine cello bow available through this program.

Eligibility

Priority will be given to talented young Canadian professional musicians (under age 30) of great potential.

YES Montreal and the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF)
YES and CYBF Loans

YES Montreal and CYBF offer a loan of up to $15,000 to help young entrepreneurs aged 18 to 34 to start a new business.

In order to find out all details about the program, you must attend a Grants & Loans information session at YES.

Eligibility
  • Aged 18 to 34
  • Demonstrate relevant knowledge and/or experience within your industry
  • Work in the business on a full-time basis
  • Present a business plan demonstrating the viability of your business
  • Be in business for less than 12 months (from the time of your first sale)
  • Must attend a Grants & Loans Information Session prior to applying for this program
