The Canada Council for the Arts
International Residencies Program in Visual Arts

This residency is intended for professional artists with at least 8 years of professional practice in the visual arts, fine craft, and independent criticism and curating.

This residency program is intended for professional artists working in the visual arts, fine craft, and independent criticism and curating. Grants, which are provided with the residencies, contribute toward subsistence, travel, production costs, accomodation and residency fees. These residencies are located in:

  • Paris (six 4-month residencies)
  • Port of Spain (three 2-month residencies)
  • New York (two 6-month residencies)
  • Berlin (one 12-month residency)
  • London (two 6-month residencies)
Eligibility
  • Canadian citizen or have Canadian permanent resident status
  • Have created an independent body of work
  • Have made a nationally recognized contribution to their discipline through public presentation of their work outside their local community
  • Minimum 8 years professional practice in the field
