Aboriginal Emerging Writers Residencies

This residency is for Aboriginal writers to undertake specific writing projects while participating in a residency program designed to refresh and refine their writing skills.

This residency program supports the artistic development of emerging Aboriginal writers in a professional artistic and cultural environment. It also encourages the development of Aboriginal publishing, and the strengthening of Aboriginal literary creation in Canada. This residency also assists candidates with aspects of professional development, including getting their work published.

Eligibility
  • Canadian citizens or have permanent resident status
  • Aboriginal people, which include Status, non-Status, Metis and Inuit People
  • Emerging authors do not need to have a book published professionally, but must have written work published

Amount

Scholarship of $5,000. Residency costs covered include:

  • tuition
  • transportation
  • accommodation and food
  • supplies for the two-week program
