ELAN was created in the wake of a major English-language artistic revival that became evident early in the new century. ELAN's members are artists who work in all disciplines and in many areas across Quebec.
ELAN serves its members in four ways:
- Stimulate conversation between thousands of artists working in different disciplines, neighbourhoods and regions.
- Building bridges with francophone colleagues.
- Developing new connections between artists and partners/funders.
- Encouraging an evolving Quebec identity that is unified around French as the public language, while recognizing the benefits of social, cultural and artistic diversity.
