Summer Student Job: Culturealacarte.ca Project Coordinator

ELAN seeks to hire a Culturealacarte.ca Project Coordinator for a seven weeks, beginning July 13.

Successful candidate will 1) create a comprehensive listing of venues and events in Montreal and English-speaking communities in the regions, 2) promote the service to artists and arts organizations in Montreal and the Regions, 3) promote the service to tourist service outlets and agencies to expand the user base.

This summer student job* will provide excellent experience toward a career in community organizing, arts administration, marketing or arts management. Because ELAN works with artists of all disciplines and all levels of professional experience, the students will have an opportunity to 1) connect and network with key players in the cultural job market, 2) increase their knowledge of professional operations in the various artistic disciplines, public institutions and private industry, 3) develop communication, project management, community development, and marketing skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Research new Culturealacarte.ca content, including venues, artists, partner organizations, festivals and other events.
  • Communicate with artists and event organizers to promote Culturealacarte.ca service as marketing tool.
  • Liaise with hotels and other tourism service points to promote Culturealacarte.ca as a service to their clients.

 

Tasks:

  • Research and input data.
  • Assist in the design and distribution of promotional materials.
  • Assist in development and implementation of communications and outreach strategies.

*This position is funded by Service Canada's Canada Summer Jobs program.

The successful candidate must have been registered as a full-time student in 2011-12 and intend to return to school on a  full-time basis in 2012-13. Only Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or officially protected refugees are eligible (i.e. international students are not eligible).

Preference for students looking to pursue a career as an artist or in arts administration, communications or management.
