Akbar Eric Manolson

Akbar Eric Manolson is a composer, musician and poet living in North Hatley, Québec.

Born in Montreal, Akbar Eric began studying piano at a young age. As a teenager he continued his studies in Canada and the United States, and began learning guitar, flute and saxaphone as well. Later traveling to Turkey, India, Israel and South Africa, he deepened his understanding of the cultures of indigenous peoples and of the uses of expressive arts in wellness and healing.

For over 25 years Akbar has given presentations, leading seminars and training people in his unique, innovative approach to sound and movement, in settings as diverse as brain injury clinics, corporate offices and at the 1996 Summer Olympic games. He has worked as a consultant to the health care system of the state of Georgia, USA and has been contracted to initiate therapeutic music programs in both the private and public sectors.

He is presently spending more of his time composing and arranging music, and learning about the power of the sounds and colours of nature. His current projects include the release of Healing Piano II: You've Got a Friend, Healing Piano III: Morning songs, and the development of music for fìlm.

Akbar also sings in a local blues band. He is the father of two wonderful children, Auriel and Sarah, both of whom are musicians, as well as being involved in other fascinating pursuits and projects in the world.
