Nalini Warriar

Nalini Warriar was born in Kerala, India and has lived in Heidelberg, Germany and Strasbourg, France. She is a cancer researcher and a biotech consultant who is fluent in German and French. She started writing fiction in 1994 in part as a response to life ticking away and in part to ward off utter boredom while meditating on her Masters thesis. This doodling of words resulted in numerous short stories and a novel. The former revealed themselves as a series of linked stories, Blues from the Malabar Coast, which won the McAuslan First Book Award in 2002. She has conducted writing workshops and also writes book reviews for the The Gazette. She wrote the Quebec City chapter in Write Across Canada published by Nightwood Editions. Nineteen writers from all Canadian provinces participated in this chain novel. Her first novel, The Enemy Within, will be published by TSAR Publications in 2005. She lives in Quebec City.
