Maya Khankhoje
Maya Khankhoje was born in Mexico to an Indian father and a Belgian mother. She obtained a degree in English Literature in India and has worked as a simultaneous interpreter in New Delhi, Mexico City, New York and Montreal. Maya recently retired from a UN Agency to devote herself to writing and to Montreal Serai, an ezine of which she is Assistant Editor. She has 287 published pieces including fiction, poetry, essays and book reviews for which she has won several awards. Maya writes mainly in English and sometimes in Spanish although her first short story -in French- won a prize. She speaks seven languages and has translated a Mexican novel into English. Gyldan Edge Publishing recently issued "A Panther in Your Dreams", an English/Spanish parallel text collection of short stories for children and language students. Maya is presently working on a biography, a novel and the usual bits and pieces that distract writers. Travel, the environment, philosophy, languages and her family and friends are her main interests.
