Summary:

This is a selection from my self-produced debut EP. The EP is a collection of home recordings and other material recorded during the summer & fall of 2007 in Montreal. Artists who helped contribute to the EP include: Erik Virtanen & Tasha Cyr (vocals on Far Above the Sky) Kent Walker (engineer on Borderline Ferry) Harris Newman (mastering engineer)

This song is about death and life and the blood we’ve shed over the many years the human race has been occupying this planet. It was created through an improvisational process where I just allowed the text to evolve out of the feeling that I got from strumming the chords. I produced this piece in three parts; first the improvisation, second I structured the arrangement and polished the lyrics and lastly I changed key signatures, re-arranged the song so it would be a bit more listener-friendly and then added the background voices and overdubs. It was recorded digitally at my home studio using a Macintosh computer, Pro Tools LE software with an MBox interface, a Neuman TLM 103 & Shure SM57 microphones. The instrumentation was done on acoustic guitar and mandolin.
