Kissing Balance
"Kissing balance", first realized in 2007, challenges the viewer that these rocks are actually balanced. All rocks are balanced and assembled by hand, or leg, chest and any body part that can be applied to create the balance, the entire body becomes a tool and is unified into a tremendous amount of energy and precision when used with complete abandonment.
"Feel the balance", is how I explain the process and creation each sculpture. I usually don't need to look at what my hands are doing, but I must feel it if it is going to follow its own energy and present an honest and original experience. I am truly mindless while doing the balances; balance finds itself and I simply follow.
My personal reference, "The Pursuit of Balance" is based upon Taoist principles, "the way", always approaching balance (chi or Qi).
The Tao is the path of our natural reality
About the world, our spiritual path & ourselves.
It is the real practice of body, mind & spirit; Not just a philosophy of the mind
All prints are reconditioned in photoshop, imitating a gum dichromate non silver print. Photographed in October with a Nikon D 80 wide angle lens.
Giclée prints of the sculptures are available on water color paper at any size.
