{"id":18613,"date":"2018-04-04T18:31:52","date_gmt":"2018-04-04T18:31:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.quebec-elan.org\/?p=18613"},"modified":"2019-05-08T17:46:14","modified_gmt":"2019-05-08T17:46:14","slug":"2018-19-action-plan-for-official-languages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.quebec-elan.org\/en\/2018-19-action-plan-for-official-languages\/","title":{"rendered":"2018\/19 Action Plan for Official Languages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The federal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/canadian-heritage\/corporate\/portfolio-organizations.html\">Ministry of Canadian Heritage<\/a> is responsible for funding 12 crown corporations, including Canada Council, T\u00e9l\u00e9film, the National Film Board, and CBC. The fund that supports Official Language communities is less visible but extremely important for minority language communities. \u00a0A significant portion of ELAN\u2019s funding comes from this source, which has also funded some of our largest projects such as Arts Alive! Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n<p>On March 28 in Ottawa, Minister M\u00e9lanie Joly and Prime Minister Trudeau unveiled the 2018\/19 Action Plan for Official Languages. The new Action Plan received a 20% increase in funding, which was an encouraging demonstration of support for minority language communities across the country.
