All photos by Nasuna Stuart-Ulin.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The <em>Access and Alternatives<\/em> panel brought together the threads of conversations held throughout the <strong><span style=\"color: #0054a6;\"><a style=\"color: #0054a6;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.quebec-elan.org\/creative-resilience-exploring-arts-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Creative Resilience series<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, addressing the issues of scarcity and access to resources, as well as creative solutions that can inspire collaborations, and foster space for individual and community well-being. This panel was an opportunity to not only discuss structural barriers, but also explore the ways in which our artistic practices can be tools of knowledge, empowerment and healing. <strong><span style=\"color: #0054a6;\"><a style=\"color: #0054a6;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.quebec-elan.org\/2020\/02\/04\/access-and-alternatives-panel-summary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here to read the panel summary<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Resources<\/h2>\n<p>Thank you to all the <strong>Minute Market<\/strong> participants at <em>Access and Alternatives<\/em>! The Minute Market is an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quebec-elan.org\/join-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0054a6;\">ELAN Member<\/span><\/strong><\/a> benefit, where participants are given a one-minute spot to market their latest work. The Minute Market at <em>Access &amp; Alternatives<\/em> featured representatives from several community health and social services organizations based in Montreal. The resources listed here also include recommendations shared by our panelists:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/access4mtl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0054a6;\">Accessibilize Montreal<\/span><\/strong><\/a> (Facebook page): Grassroots organization challenging mainstream perceptions of disability through direct action. Speaking out against transit and systemic discrimination in Montreal.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0054a6;\"><a style=\"color: #0054a6;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.actionautonomie.qc.ca\/\">Action Autonomie<\/a><\/span><\/strong>: Action Autonomie <span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span title=\"\">is a community non-profit organization.<\/span> <span title=\"\">It has been set up by people who have used voluntary or non-mental health services.<\/span> <span class=\"\" title=\"\">Their experiences will have forged the need to come together to assert their rights.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0054a6;\"><a style=\"color: #0054a6;\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1DMJCUzFqNl53v79iYHBso8hBvkGJbdFIYU2iVZucwrM\/htmlview?fbclid=IwAR0e1Od9W2TKakHHrMDmbrJkk_2wgmco-yQ7E010FdqGYGWOdObawC4LhwY#gid=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">All Black Everything in Montreal<\/a><\/span><\/strong>: A working document, reviewed by Shanice Nicole, designed to gather up-to-date information about resources available and people working in Montreal&#8217;s various Black communities. The main goal is to support Black businesses, projects, people, and communities as a whole. List includes Healers, Therapists, Counsellors, Practitioners.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0054a6;\"><a style=\"color: #0054a6;\" href=\"https:\/\/amiquebec.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AMI-Quebec<\/a><\/span><\/strong>: AMI-Quebec is a non-profit organization that helps families manage the effects of mental illness through support, education, guidance, and advocacy. Programs are free!<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0054a6;\"><a style=\"color: #0054a6;\" href=\"https:\/\/bipocmentalhealth.tumblr.com\/list\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">List of BIPOC Mental Health Professionals<\/a><\/span><\/strong>: This project is being completed by CURE Concordia. The list includes the name of the professional, their professional title, their services, whether they are currently taking new clients, their email, their phone number, their ethnicity, their language(s), whether they identify as LGBTQ, whether they require a referral, their address, the accessibility of their space, their cost and whether insurance is accepted (in this order).<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0054a6;\"><a style=\"color: #0054a6;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tigerlotuscoop.com\/community\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Community Healing Days<\/a><\/span><\/strong>: <span class=\"color_15\">To acknowledge and shed light on the current and ever-increasing inequality gap, the privatization of our healthcare services and a rapidly deteriorating health care system, Tiger Lotus Coop and Physio Alternative, through direct action, will attempt to bring about a more positive outlook, transformative mindset and progressive model to the community\u2019s and the individual\u2019s health and well-being needs.<\/span> With <span class=\"color_15\">Community Healing Days, complementary health practitioners in the community offer their time and skills free of charge, bridging the gap that exists between private and public health models.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0054a6;\"><a style=\"color: #0054a6;\" href=\"https:\/\/festival.roommagazine.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Growing Room Festival<\/a><\/span><\/strong> (Vancouver): Growing Room\u00a0is\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0054a6;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0054a6;\" href=\"http:\/\/roommagazine.com\/\"><em>Room<\/em>\u00a0magazine<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u2019s annual literary and arts festival, a celebration of diverse Canadian writers and artists which takes place every March on the traditional, unceded, and ancestral territory of the Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh, and Squamish peoples (Vancouver, British Columbia). <i>Room<\/i> is committed to deepening our learning about inclusion and accessibility, both within the systemic structures of the festival and the creative curation. Growing Room is a celebration, a protest, a reflection, a re-visioning, a gathering, a question, and a dream.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0054a6;\"><a style=\"color: #0054a6;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mymentalhealth-matters.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">My Mental Health Matters<\/a><\/span><\/strong>: A non-profit organization founded in May 2018 by Haitian student Ernithe Edmond and Senegalese student Fama Tounkara. The organization uses the hashtag #MMHM2.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0054a6;\"><a style=\"color: #0054a6;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plurinitiative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PLURI<\/a><\/span><\/strong> (Facebook page): PLURI stands for PEACE LOVE UNITY RESPECT INITIATIVE and specifically focuses on improving safety and inclusivity on dancefloors.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0054a6;\"><a style=\"color: #0054a6;\" href=\"http:\/\/physioalternative.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Physio Alternative<\/a><\/span><\/strong>: Physio Alternative provides quality and holistic treatments in the fields of Physiotherapy, Acupressure and natural remedies. These services will focus on community health equality through a sliding scale and barter approach and are ecologically rooted.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0054a6;\"><a style=\"color: #0054a6;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nwsm.info\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Resilience Montreal<\/a><\/span><\/strong>: Resilience Montreal is a collaboration between the Native Women\u2019s Shelter of Montreal and Nazareth Community.
