July is Disability Pride Month!<\/p>\n

To celebrate ELAN has compiled a list of art spaces and organizations which offer accessible classes, services, workshops and more! We have also listed a few opportunities and resources which offer support for artists with disabilities. Support for D\/deaf Artists or Artists with Disabilities <\/strong>(Deadline October 16)<\/p>\n

“A program dedicated to the development and recognition of disabled art and artistic practice of D\/deaf artists and artists with disabilities!” If you are an artist, collective or organization working in any arts discipline, take advantage of the special financial assistance available to carry out your creative, production or dissemination projects.<\/p>\n

Support Fund for Accessibility Costs <\/strong>(Ongoing)<\/p>\n

To artists, artists\u2019 collectives and arts organizations: the Support Fund for Accessibility Costs is meant to help you prepare a grant application, include individuals or artists who are D\/deaf and living with disabilities in your teams and projects, and present performances to audiences living with these disabilities.<\/p>\n

Accessible Writers\u2019 Lab\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Canada Media Fund<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Accessible Media Inc.<\/em>, in partnership with\u00a0ReelAbilities Film Festival Toronto<\/em>\u00a0and the\u00a0Miles Nadal JCC<\/em>, are excited to launch the inaugural edition of the\u00a0Accessible Writers\u2019 Lab \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0a national program for writers with disabilities and established showrunners and senior writers to experiment with what an accessible TV writers room might look like.<\/p>\n

Accessible Art Spaces & Organizations<\/h3>\n

Geordie Theatre\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Geordie Theatre values the diversity of its patrons, visitors and workforce, and is committed to making theatre that is inclusive and accessible to all members of society. Geordie Theatre offers American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation, relaxed performances, and financial accessibility for both attending performances and participating in the performing arts.<\/p>\n

Studio 303<\/strong><\/p>\n

Studio 303 offers accessible (+) workshops to provide artists who are Deaf and disabled with professional development opportunities that address broader accessibility needs. In addition, Studio 303 is offering to reimburse or pay accessibility-related expenses for accessible (+) workshops to allow artists who are Deaf and disabled\u00a0 to participate without additional out-of-pocket costs. Workshop registration fees are however required. If the workshop fee is a barrier to participation, it is possible to apply for a workshop bursary.<\/p>\n

Since its inception, Joe Jack & John has been focusing on stage accessibility for artists with disabilities, while working on making their plays accessible to a wide audience. They offer relaxed performances open to all, and can appeal specifically to people who have a sensory or intellectual disability, a neurological or learning disability, and to people with newborns or special needs.<\/p>\n
