Once a quarter, we do a round-up of project news so you can take a peek at what&#8217;s on the go. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ArtistsInspire Grants &#8211; Teaching Artists<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Are you or do you know a Teaching Artist interested in joining the ArtistsInspire Roster? <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>ELAN ArtEd aims to support Teaching Artists in their work and chosen career path, providing opportunities to learn, grow and support students.&nbsp;Currently in its fourth year, ArtistsInspire School Grants&nbsp;provide&nbsp;$1500 in funding&nbsp;to English public elementary and secondary schools in Quebec to&nbsp;provide quality&nbsp;in-person and&nbsp;virtual arts &amp; culture experiences with a professional artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ArtEd team&nbsp;loves meeting new Teaching Artists and hearing about what they can bring to Quebec schools. Our recruitment period for the 2023-2024 school year begins mid-March and ends mid-April. We encourage you to have a look at the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/artistsinspire.ca\/faqs\/faq-for-artists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FAQ for Artists<\/a>&nbsp;section on our website and our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/artistsinspire.ca\/artists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Teaching Artist Roster<\/a>&nbsp;to see the variety of Artists already involved in the project.&nbsp;To receive all of the details during our recruitment period, subscribe our mailing list <a href=\"https:\/\/artistsinspire.ca\/newsletter-signup\/\">HERE<\/a> and follow our Facebook page <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ELANArtEd\">HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Community Digital Arts Hub &#8211; Affordable Studio &amp; Gear Rentals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/cdahquebec.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CDA Hub<\/a> continues to grow into its new space, and their equipment rental kits are in use. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The first rental was used for the upcoming play directed by Sophie Gee, Bonnes Bonnes, aux \u00c9curies in April. Theatre companies are getting into podcasting and Imago and Black Theatre Workshop both recorded at the Hub last month.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Look forward to more workshops in March, including one on podcasting, Advertising in the Arts (With QDF), as well as a livestreamed concert and CDAH&#8217;s Media Camp for teens (ages 13-17) from March 2-6. During this session, our experienced grant advisor and strategist will walk you through the ins and outs of CALQ funding: we\u2019ll cover the basics of what artists need to know to apply with greater confidence and highlight the fundamentals that go into writing a strong grant application. And because we\u2019ll all be in the same room for a change, our advisor will have more time to be able to go in-depth with your questions and actually look at your work-in-progress application with you. Plus, we\u2019ll tell you how you can access <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quebec-elan.org\/quebec-relations-search-funding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Qu\u00e9bec Relations<\/a>\u2019 free funding consultations and grant assistance for additional one-on-one support!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spaces for this session are limited, and priority will be given to ELAN members, so please<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/Uji9P1QH2oYoLiwS8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> click here to reserve your spot<\/a> today. <strong>If for any reason you are unable to attend, please let us know at least 48 hours in advance so we can make your spot available for someone else. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This workshop will take place at ELAN\u2019s offices in Suite 714, 460 Sainte-Catherine West. The session will consist of an initial hour followed by a half-hour break for lunch, and finally a 1.5 afternoon session. Refreshments will be provided!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For those of you who are unable to make it, or who live outside of Montreal, fear not! We\u2019ll be back next month with a Zoom-based version of the workshop, with priority spots for our community members living in other regions of the province. Stay tuned for more info in next month\u2019s newsletter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">State of the Arts: Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quebec-elan.org\/state-of-the-arts-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">State of the Arts on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion<\/a> project is conducting focus groups to continue learning and engaging with the English-speaking Quebec arts, culture, and heritage sector.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to be involved, we are currently looking for English-speaking BIPOC artists, cultural workers, and heritage workers in Quebec to be part of an online focus group. Get in touch at <a href=\"mailto:reasonedi@quebec-elan.org\">reasonedi@quebec-elan.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The State of the Arts: Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (SOTA on EDI) is a project to capture the current landscape of the English-speaking Quebec arts, heritage, and culture sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By exploring what equity, diversity, and inclusion means and looks like within our vibrant milieu, we wish to reflect on the specific ways these principles and practices show up on an individual, organizational, and communal level. We welcome the contributions of individual artists, cultural workers, and arts and heritage organizations to help build from where we are at to move to even greater heights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What We Choose to Remember &#8211; Film<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>ELAN\u2019s feature-length documentary&nbsp; <em><a href=\"https:\/\/whatwechoosetoremember.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">What We Choose To Remember<\/a><\/em> has resonated with viewers because it reflects a lived reality that is rarely acknowledged in the media or in the official history of Quebec.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Since launching at the Hudson and Knowlton film festival\u2019s last summer <strong>What We Choose To Remember <\/strong>has been touring communities around Quebec: Gasp\u00e9, Barachois, Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec City, Chateauguay, Ormstown, Pincourt, Cote St-Luc, St-Bruno, Beloeil, Baie-Comeau, Sept-Iles, Chambly and Brossard.&nbsp; Another 20 screenings are already scheduled for 2023.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each screening is accompanied by a Q+A with director Guy Rex Rodgers so audience members can share their own experiences about living in Quebec. The conversations have been particularly animated in the context of Bill 96 and the federal revision of the Official Languages Act.&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/whatwechoosetoremember.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here to check our webpage<\/a> for dates and locations of screenings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Film Board, as part of its Filmmaker Assistance Program, provided additional on-line editing, colour correction and audio mixing in January and we are now creating a subtitled version of the film (<strong>Ce qu\u2019on choisit de se souvenir)<\/strong> for presentation to French-speaking audiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ELAN&#8217;s projects are working hard all year round to bring important services, creations, and resources to the Quebec Arts community.
