State of the Arts is a consultation aimed to better understand how we as artists can strengthen our communities.
State of the Arts is a community consultation aimed to better understand how we as artists, cultural workers, arts organizers, funders, and audiences are all connected, and how we can strengthen our arts community together through thoughtful collaboration and meaningful exchanges. ELAN recognizes that there are many rapidly evolving conversations regarding access, inclusion, working conditions, economics, appropriation, and other barriers that prevent our artistic community from thriving.
Assertion Sessions are designed to amplify your voice. Assertion Sessions will open the floor to suggestions, ideas, and expressions of all kinds to improve the State of the Arts in Quebec. Your Assertions will shape concrete recommendations and next steps for ELAN and our partners.
Assertion participants will:
- Engage in an open conversation on the needs, wants, and barriers that prevent us from reaching our artistic visions;
- Share information on existing and relevant resources;
- Network with like minded individuals in the artistic milieu;
- Have the chance to contribute to meaningful opportunities and initiatives that emerge from our conversations.
Through State of the Arts, we commit to actively listen and find practical ways to recognize and validate the diverse experiences of artists who speak in English and who make up an important segment of Quebec’s evolving identity.
*** Snacks will be provided at each event! ***
Access is important to us and so is your time! Folks attending these sessions are eligible for a 20$ honorarium. To receive your honorarium you MUST register in advance on Eventbrite AND select the Ticket with Honorarium option*.
