Research and creation residency in Mumbai (India)

Résidences de recherche et de création à Mumbai (Inde)

DESCRIPTION

Under the program, and for each year of the agreement, one Québec artist may spend four months in Mumbai, have the use of an apartment and a studio, and take advantage of numerous possibilities for professional contacts related to the development of his career. The sojourn is for a period of four months, between November and March.

Information of the host institution
Mumbai, formerly called Bombay, is the economic capital of India. During the 1990s, economic and cultural globalization contributed to the emergence of a new architecture and the accelerated development of the arts, literature and the film industry. This effervescence has spurred the development of an eclectic, creative society where modernity and tradition meld in a unique manner.

WAA? is an innovative cultural organization, which through various initiatives and advisory services (mounting of exhibitions, production support, artists’ workshops, national and international residencies) contributes to the development and promotion of contemporary Indian and international art. Through its artists’ residency program, WAA? welcomes national and international artists in the visual arts, digital arts, cinema and video with the intention of fostering intercultural artistic exchanges.

PLEASE NOTE THAT STUDIO AND RESIDENCY PROGRAMS DIFFER CONSIDERABLY IN DURATION, DEADLINES AND SEASON IN WHICH THEY OCCUR. WE HIGHLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO USE THIS PLATFORM FOR RESEARCH PURPOSES AND TO REVIEW ALL DETAILS ON THE CALQ WEBSITE.
