The Arts and Older Adults

Kateryna Kobylianska

Visual Arts

I find deep joy in forging meaningful connections with older adults, cherishing their life stories. My life’s purpose centers on creating moments of reflection and enabling self-discovery through art. I delight in witnessing the sparkle in people’s eyes as they experience a sense of belonging and reveal the potential to go beyond their creative boundaries. I’ve been facilitating body/vocal labs since 2012 and visual art labs since 2018. My approach integrates sensory and emotional engagement, cognitive stimulation, and fosters social interactions. It’s a safe space for cultivating creative ideas and bringing them to life through art.

We’ll explore the idea of rhythmic alternation, which signifies harmony in diversity. through the next exercises:

The rhythm of the natural cycle: rhythmical is not identical.

Multiple Colors, One Pattern: using various colors, we’ll apply the same pattern.

Rhythm in Perspective.

Depicting Taste and Smell Visually.
