The Arts and Older Adults

Stories spark memories and memories spark stories!
As a Storyteller, my passion involves the collection of ‘memories’ and true stories through interviews with seniors.
In group workshops (both in person and online), I take great pleasure in discovering and honing on the senior’s interests, essential not only for listening, but also for their need to be heard, a need only accentuated since the onset of the pandemic.
In the sharing of our stories we revisit both the history and the folklore of past generations, these collective memories can then be preserved and in turn passed on to future generations.

Sample workshop:

Memories … A Creative Writing Workshop
Memories… Selective, Sensory and sometimes elusive.
What is the emotion behind the powerful retrospective memories that have not only shaped our lives, but remain lingering in our minds even as the memory starts to fade?
Stories spark memories and memories spark stories!
This workshop invites you to write a story sparked by a memory or a photo.
Your story may be a true story, or it may be fiction … or perhaps even a bit of both!
The most important thing in the workshop is to have fun sharing stories and memories!
