DESCRIPTION

The residency enables joint work between Québec and Italian choreographers. The Québec choreographer will spend five weeks at the Centro per la Scena Contemporanea in Bassano and will continue the residency for three weeks at Circuit-Est in Montréal.

The amount of the grant enables recipients to cover the cost of personal insurance, travel, living expenses and costs related to carry out their projects).

 

Information of the host institution
The municipality of Bassano del Grappa is located in northeastern Italy. Its Centro per la Scena Contemporanea (CSC) is a centre for dance dedicated to the development of contemporary dance in the region of Veneto. Its OperaEstate festival has 35 cities in its region participating and annually programs close to 300 performances and multidisciplinary events. The CSC is supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture (MIBAC), and many of its international cooperation projects receive European Union support.

The CSC is a member of European dance centre networks (European Dance Network, Aerowaves). The CSC is also part of the first Italian network for contemporary dance artists, involving 37 presenters in 15 different regions. In recent years, the CSC began collaborations with partners in Asia, Australia, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK and the Czech Republic.

CRITERIA

  • Artists with at least two years of artistic practice and at least two works presented professionally.

Not eligible:

  • Groups of artists.
  • Projects carried out under the supervision of an educational program are ineligible.
  • A project that has already been rejected by the Conseil is ineligible for this program.
  • A group legally constituted as a not-for-profit or profit-making company or general partnership is ineligible for this program.
