Financial Aid for Festivals and Tourist Events

Aide financière aux festivals et aux événements touristiques

DESCRIPTION

The program helps position Québec as a destination on the national and international scene by promoting the development of tourism festivals and events. It stimulates the economy of the regions by increasing the number of visitors and tourist revenues.. The program comprises three distinct sections of funding:

  • Section 1: Major tourist events and festivals (maximum aid of $1 million)
  • Section 2: Festivals and large-scale tourist events (maximum aid of $750,000)
  • Section 3: Innovation and opportunities

CRITERIA

  • The event must be public and include at least three days of programming
  • The event must be produced and take place in Quebec
  • The event must be organized around a theme and program of activities 
  • The event must have had two consecutive editions in the same location prior to the submission of the application (not applicable to Section 3)
  • The event must bring in a significant number of tourists as well as visitors from elsewhere in Quebec
  • Other criteria vary depending on the section of the program

Ineligible events include:

  • A tourist attraction’s current programming
  • Trade shows, markets, and fairs
  • Conferences
  • Conventions
  • Performances and exhibitions (specifically those that do not include activity programming other than activities directly related to the exhibition)

EXPENSES

  • Administrative costs
  • Programming costs
  • Costs relating to promotion, marketing and communications
  • Costs relating to management of the site and facilities
  • Cost of products intended for resale 
  • Travel costs, general fees, salaries and benefits of the human capital for the event promoter 
  • Sponsorships of goods and services (must be audited)
