Research and creation residences for architects and visual artists at the British School at Rome

Résidences de recherche et de création pour architects et artistes en arts visuels à la British School a Rome

DESCRIPTION

In 2008, a program of residencies was established, allowing a Québec professional in the realm of architectural research (architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning and environmental design) or a visual artist whose practice is related to architectural research to engage each year in a three-month research and creation residency in the Italian capital. The residencies take place in the facilities of the British School located on Via Gramsci and allow the applicants selected to take advantage of numerous possibilities for professional contacts related to their career development.

In particular, this 3-month program is intended to offer support adapted to the artistic research of creators in the architecture or visual arts sectors to foster their receptiveness to new practices and the enhancement of their plastic language as well as contributing to the establishment of enduring links between Québec and foreign architects and visual artists and facilitate exchanges of artistic viewpoints while offering Québec creators the possibility of engaging in a period of artistic renewal in one of the world’s foremost cultural capitals.
