Support for Emerging Creators (Development)

Aide à la création émergente (étape du développement)

DESCRIPTION

The program is open to all Quebec audiovisual production companies developing projects with emerging creators, i.e. producers, directors and scriptwriters with a minimum of experience in the type of project submitted, that have not yet entered the regular financing and production channels.

The program welcomes short and feature-length fiction projects, as well as short, medium and feature-length documentaries. Projects must be submitted during the development stage. Exceptionally, certain projects may be submitted directly for the production stage, if they meet the specific eligibility requirements. All projects must stand out in comparative mode and meet the requirements and criteria required at each stage.

The program provides professional coaching, mentoring, networking and advice for emerging creators.

CRITERIA

  • Financial aid can be up to:
    • $15,000 for short fiction and short- or medium-length documentaries
    • $25,000 for feature-length fiction or documentaries

Eligible companies must:

  • Comply with the definition of Quebec film and television production companies and television production companies
  • Be legally constituted and duly registered with the Registraire des entreprises du Québec at least one year prior to the date of submission
  • Be represented by an emerging producer who benefits of a clear delegation of responsibility for all artistic and administrative aspects of the project
  • Hold all rights for the scripting, production and exploitation of the project
  • Not be a sole proprietorship
  • After two rejections, a project is no longer eligible for the development stage. It may, however, be eligible for the production stage if, in addition to complying with the conditions applicable to all production stage projects, has not been supported in development
  • The project must be submitted by a producer, a screenwriter and, if confirmed, a director, all of whom must be emerging
  • At the development stage, a single company, including related companies, may submit a maximum of four projects per application, provided that the following rules are respected:
    • at least half of the projects submitted are scripted by a woman, and in the case of an odd number of projects submitted, beyond two, the majority of the projects must be by women
    • at least half of the projects must come from a networking activity recognized by SODEC prior to the submission date(s)
