Support for Export and Cultural Outreach – Section 1: Strategic Development for Companies Abroad

Programme d’aide à l’exportation et au rayonnement culturel – Volet 1 : Développement stratégique des entreprises à l’étranger

DESCRIPTION

This section of the program aims to support Quebec companies that carry out commercial activities abroad that are spread out over a period of two years with the goal of consolidating markets for works from Quebec. This support allows companies to explore several markets at the same time and increase the business related to the selling of works, products and contents outside Quebec.

CRITERIA

To be eligible, companies must:

  • Be a Quebec company holding international distribution rights to a catalog of works of film, television or interactive works with a majority of Quebec content

Eligible project must comprise a two-year sales strategy, aiming to consolidate existing markets
or the development of new ones for a catalog of Quebec works.

Applicant companies must have closed previous projects from Section 1 before presenting any new project in the same section.

EXPENSES

  • Economy class transportation costs
  • Accommodation fees in the territories targeted for export
  • Costs related to producing promotional materials for export activities
  • Costs related to promotional activities
  • Accreditation fees in situations where there is no organization that can host the applicant
  • Accreditation and space rental fees when there is no collective presence in the SODEC-supported market to accommodate the applicant
  • Salaries for company’s human resources linked to the implementation of the business strategy
    and independent consulting fees for work carried outside Quebec and for negotiating agreements (maximum 20% of assistance granted)
  • Costs related to legal acts concerning commercial agreements abroad
  • Interpreter fees, if applicable
  • Registration fees for international festivals (for short films only)
  • Costs related to subtitling, dubbing, or voiceovers not covered by other funding (for one episode of a series or miniseries only)
  • Fees for independent consultants related to work completed abroad and the negotiation of agreements

  • An export business plan, including:
    • A description of planned activities by market or by product
    • Targeted clients
    • Works
    • A schedule of strategic development and expected results
  • Projected budget for the proposed business strategy, including a detailed financing structure, showing separately the value of the company’s financial participation and that of other sources of financing acquired and anticipated
  • Financial statement review engagements from the applicant company’s previous two accounting periods
  • Gross sales outside Quebec for the past two years and projected sales for the next two years in the concerned territory
