Aide aux initiatives innovantes – Volet 1 : Aide aux initiatives innovantes

DESCRIPTION

This section of the program seeks to foster the emergence of new business models including, but not limited to:

  • The development of Québec intellectual property
  • The diversification of cultural content formats
  • The production, exploitation or export of cultural content
  • The discoverability of cultural contents
  • Business intelligence of companies

It also aims to increase the capacity of companies to implement innovative projects for products, processes or services, as well as to foster business partnerships, risk sharing and collaborative strategies.

CRITERIA

Open to: For-profit companies, Not-for-profit organizations

Applicant companies must:

  • Be a legally incorporated for-profit or not-for-profit company, established and registered with the Quebec, under Quebec control and operating mainly in a field relevant to SODEC’s activities
  • Have their head office and principal place of business in Quebec, and demonstrate that the majority control of the company is held by persons with their a tax residence in Quebec
  • Sole proprietorships are ineligible, except for applicant companies in the Arts and Crafts field
  • Eligible projects must concern innovation in technological, digital or business processes and demonstrate a significant evolution in the production, dissemination, promotion or marketing of Quebec cultural content, or in business intelligence or business models
  • Applications must be for one-time projects, distinct from the regular operations of companies (although their implementation may have an impact on regular operations)

To be eligible, a project must:

  • Involve the development of a new product, process or service, or a significant improvement to an existing product, process or service
  • Have a significant benefit for the company or sector of activity
  • Involve technological or business risk or uncertainty to the company
  • Have required or will require research and development efforts
  • A project eligible for this program may not be submitted or have been submitted to any other SODEC financial assistance program

Eligible activities include:

  • Planning: intellectual property protection, detailed market studies, technical and financial studies
  • Research and development: development, conception, design, prototyping, trial phase of the project
  • Production and implementation
  • Marketing

EXPENSES

  • Fees for specialized services
  • Production and implementation expenses
  • Labour costs directly related to the project
  • Project-specific materials and equipment expenses
  • Costs related to the purchase of specialized information that is relevant and necessary for the project
  • Prototyping expenses
  • All other expenses relevant and necessary to the project
  • In the case of collaborative projects with companies outside Québec, only expenses assumed by the applicant are eligible

  • Budget
  • Estimates from service providers
  • Other documents necessary for SODEC to assess the application
  • Financial statements for the last two fiscal years
  • Other documents required for collaborative projects, if applicable (see Annexe 1)
  • Master file, including:
    • Copies of the governing documents, certificate of constitution, articles of incorporation, declaration of registration, certificate of amendment and partnership or shareholders agreement (if applicable)
    • Shareholders and directors identification form
    • Organizational structures for the applicant company and, if applicable, any affiliated companies, including shareholders
    • Curriculum vitae of the applicant company’s executives
