DESCRIPTION

Wishing to develop links with artists from the Nordic countries, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (Conseil) has collaborated, since 1997, with the Finnish Artists Studio Foundation (FASF) for its international artist and studio-apartment exchange program. Under the framework of this agreement with the Conseil, each year the FASF makes available to a Québec artist a studio-apartment in a 10-unit architectural complex in the city of Espoo.

Under this exchange agreement a Québec artist can engage in a four-month sojourn in Finland and a Finnish artist can engage in a four-month sojourn in Québec and take advantage of the numerous possibilities offered to make professional contacts and further career development.

Information of the host institution
The architectural complex for artists’ residences is located in the city of Espoo, roughly 10 km from the capital, Helsinki, is in the middle of a park in the Tapiola district.

The Québec artist selected will be hosted in a wooden townhouse that features an 83 m2 studio, a 15 m2 mezzanine, a kitchen and full bathroom. The adjustable studio can be used to produce works of varying dimensions. The house is fully furnished.

CRITERIA

  • Artists with at least 2 years of artistic practice.

Not eligible:

  • Groups of artists.
  • Projects carried out under the supervision of an educational program are ineligible.
  • A project that has already been rejected by the Conseil is ineligible for this program.
  • A group legally constituted as a not-for-profit or profit-making company or general partnership is ineligible for this program.
