Research and creation residencies in circus arts in Toulouse (France)

Résidences de recherche et de création en arts du cirque à Toulouse (France)

To promote the creation of lasting relationships between Québec, French and international artists and writers, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec has entered into a collaboration agreement with La Grainerie – Pôle européen de production in Toulouse, France to set up a residency program for circus artists.

The residency will consist of a 5-week stay in Toulouse by a Québec artist or a collective of up to 5 artists. Research, creation and production spaces, lodgings, and artistic and technical support will be provided. The artists will have opportunities to make professional contacts to support the development of their careers.

About the host institution

La Grainerie is a circus and travelling arts lab dedicated to strengthening the circus arts network and supporting its people. It is a resource centre for creators, technicians and administrators that offers spaces for training, creation, presentation, manufacturing and storage, as well as office space.

La Grainerie is also a laboratory of social relationships that promotes mutual aid and brings artists and audiences together through regular artistic and cultural events. The events and shows organized by La Grainerie give attendees a chance to discover, practice and take ownership of this hybrid, popular art.

La Grainerie pursues the following missions:

  • training and education of circus artists
  • support for emerging circus artists, particularly with Studio-PACT (Pépinière des Arts du Cirque Toulousaine)
  • development of cross-border and international projects

The host partner can provide accessibility measures for artists with reduced mobility on request.
