ELAN is open to everyone! Whether you work in the arts, work for an organization, love the arts, or are just curious about the community, there is room for you at ELAN. Our membership is annual and our pricing is pay-what-you-can. This means the below prices are suggested, but accessibility is a priority for us, so no one will be excluded because of financial barriers. Professional Membership
Suggested Fee = $30.00
A Professional Artist is an individual who self-identifies as an artist. There is no minimum of specialized training required. Typically, these individuals are actively publicly presenting or are interested in publicly presenting their work.
Cultural workers (administrators, managers, agents, etc.) are welcome to join as Professionals as well.
Student Membership
Suggested Fee = $15.00
Students registered in full- or part-time studies in any discipline or subject are welcome to join.
Organization Membership
Suggested Fees:
Annual budget under $150,000 = $30
Annual budget $150,001 – $300,000 = $60
Annual budget $300,001+ = $90
Arts organizations include groups that represent the interests and rights of Quebec artists, as well as presenters of artists and their work within Quebec.
Friend of ELAN Membership
Suggested Fee = $20.00
Individuals who are not professional artists or cultural workers but appreciate the arts and wish to follow local arts-related news and events are welcome to join ELAN as Friends. These may be service providers (e.g. accountants, translators), community organizations, non-professional artists, or funders and patrons.
Full-time and part-time students residing outside Quebec and organizations non-affiliated with the arts are also welcome to join as Friends.

What is Pay-What-You-Can?
Pay-What-You-Can is a pricing model most popularly used by non-profits (but have also been used by for-profit businesses). Pay-What-You- Can means that customers choose how much they will pay for a good or service.
How do I know if I am eligible for a Professional Membership?
ELAN members include emerging artists, mid-career artists, and established artists from a multitude of disciplines, background, and regions of Quebec. If you are not an artist or cultural worker, or if you reside outside Quebec, you’re invited to join as a Friend.

What if I want to pay a different amount than the tiers listed?
No problem! If none of the payment options listed suit your needs, please send us a message to request a custom invoice. Be sure to include your name, billing address, and the amount you would like to pay for membership.
If I pay less than the suggested fee, will I have access to fewer resources and services?
No. All members get equal access to services and resources.
I am unable to pay a fee at the moment. Can I still become an ELAN member?
Yes, of course! Please follow the instructions below for a $0 membership registration. All are welcome to join ELAN and we are happy to have you as part of our community.

ELAN is an official minority language organization within a country that recognizes two languages as official. ELAN is located in Tiohtià:ke, the original name for Montreal in Kanien’kéha, the language of the Mohawk—also known as Mooniyang, which is the Anishinaabeg name given to the city by the Algonquin. While we are based in this city, our projects have also taken place in many regions across Quebec.
We acknowledge the colonial origin of English and French in Canada, and recognize that both languages benefit from official status throughout the land. The province that we know as Quebec is an amalgamation of the traditional territories of the Innu and Inuit nations, Algonquian nations, as well as the Mohawk nations of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. Kanien’kéha and Anishinaabemowin are but two of the original languages of this province; Atikamekw, Cree, Inuktitut, and Innu-aimun are also among the many Indigenous languages spoken across Quebec as majority languages, all well before French and English.
ELAN acknowledges the important work being done by First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples to revive the traditional languages of these territories, and their advocacy for the official status of Indigenous languages.
