Artist and studio-apartment residency exchanges between Québec and Senegal

Échanges d’artistes et d’ateliers-résidences Québec – Sénégal

DESCRIPTION

The residency is designed for an artist in music or popular song to undertake a two-month stay in Dakar at Villa Saint-Louis Ndar, making available a suitable environment and the means to produce and disseminate their works. The program seeks to facilitate exchanges of durable ties between artists from Québec and abroad and promote the work and career development of Québec artists internationally.
The residency will take place between January and June.

Grants awarded enable recipients to cover the cost of personal insurance, travel, living expenses and costs related to carry out their projects. An itemized budget is not required for this program.

Information of the host institution
The singer/musician will stay at the Villa Saint-Louis Ndar of the Institut français de Saint-Louis, inaugurated in 2019. The Villa Saint-Louis Ndar provides three private rooms for the residents as well as collective spaces (kitchen, living room, workshops). The Villa has no specialized equipment.

The Villa Saint-Louis Ndar pays particular attention to the practice of mediation in order to give a participative dimension to the projects it hosts and to integrate the local population – school and university audiences, craftsmen, social actors, artists, teachers, etc. – into the process of creation and research.
