Québec – Guadeloupe artist and studio-apartment exchanges

Échanges d’artistes et d’ateliers-résidences Québec – Guadeloupe

DESCRIPTION

To help bring together different artistic perspectives, foster lasting ties between Québec artists and writers and those in overseas departments of France, and contribute to the development of the artistic efforts of creators, the CALQ has entered into an agreement for artists and studio-apartment exchanges in theatre between Québec and overseas departments of France.

As part of this exchange, a playwright from Québec will enjoy a two-month residency in Guadeloupe, France, with the organization Textes en Paroles. In exchange, a playwright from overseas departments of France will be hosted in Montréal, Québec, by Jamais Lu.

About the host institution

Based in Guadeloupe, Textes En Paroles is a Loi 1901 Association created in 2003 to promote contemporary Caribbean theatrical writing from emergence to staging, using a professional approach.

To date it has accumulated a large catalogue of selected texts. The texts in the repertoire of Textes En Paroles are validated for quality by an international jury of playwrights, professional critics, and knowledgeable theatregoers. These texts are a rich, original resource.

Textes En Paroles is a publisher and producer of performances, drawing on its repertoire to stage selected plays or working with partners in intersecting efforts to promote contemporary Caribbean theatrical writing.

Since its creation, Textes En Paroles has helped promote authors and participated in the live entertainment economy by employing professional artists in Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guyana, and Haiti.

During the residency at Textes en Paroles, the organization will provide accommodations and a workspace for free to the selected artists .

This international residency is geared towards artists who have more than two years of artistic experience.

The duration of the stay is two months, between March and June 2025, depending on the availability of the organization.
