Writers and graphic novelists exchanges between Québec and the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles in Bruselles (Belgium)

Echanges des écrivains et de bédéistes entre le Québec et la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles

DESCRIPTION

Eager to play an active role in cultural relations between Quebec and French-speaking Belgium, and to encourage the international career development of writers and comic artists by promoting exchange programs with foreign countries, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (Conseil) has been collaborating since 2009 with the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles and Wallonie-Bruxelles International on its artist exchange and workshop-residency program.

This partnership helps to revitalize the already fruitful ties that have long existed between the Quebec and Belgian comics communities.

The agreement enables a comic artist from Quebec to carry out a two-month residency in Belgium, and a comic artist from Belgium to carry out a two-month residency in Quebec, and to take advantage of the many opportunities to establish professional relationships in Montreal, Quebec and Brussels.

Whether it’s to deepen research or explore new collaborations, this residency allows a Quebec comic artist to open up to a wide range of practices and perspectives.
