ACE Initiative Update

Multidisciplinary Métis artist and community arts educator Moe Clark visited St. Lawrence Elementary school in Candiac on April 6 to work with grade 3 students. Together, they created soundscapes for their ACE project in conjunction with Cedar Street in Beloeil and Kateri School in Kahnawakhe.

The students had previously worked with artist and teacher Diane Gendron to create small canoes with canvas and paint, while students at Kateri School created canoes with traditional beading techniques.

Moe’s work with the students continued the theme of waterways, and linking the communities through the rivers that flow between them. Her very dynamic two-hour workshop led students to explore how to make sounds, vibrations and music using their own bodies and voices.
