Call for Writers!

ELAN’s Inclusion Committee is seeking a writer to pen their next article!

Theme:  Disability Arts Practices in Quebec during COVID-19

The article will showcase talented artists from a variety of disciplines based in Quebec, and who identify as disabled, differently-abled, D/deaf, neuro-diverse, an individual with mental illness, and/or chronically ill.

About the article

  • 1200 – 1500 words
  • $500.00 honorarium

Working closely with ELAN’s Inclusion Committee, the writer will be responsible for conducting interviews and writing a feature article that includes the following components:

  1. Images of the artist & examples of artworks;
  2. Short bio on the artist (1 paragraph is ideal);
  3. Article about their (1) artistic practice(s), (2) artistic community and (3) challenges (if any) pre and during COVID-19. (How has the pandemic impacted your everyday artistic practice and processes, livelihood and sense of community?);
  4. What suggestions do you have to help improve the lives of disabled artists and communities during COVID-19?

A list of artists for interview will be provided to the writer as well as a general style guide. The article should be delivered fact-checked and with minimal errors. That said, members of staff will be responsible for final edits. You can view the Inclusion Committee’s last initiative celebrating Asian Heritage Month by clicking here.
