ARTIST BIOs:
MARI SILD Muusika is a pop jazzy fusion formation created in Montreal by Estonian singer, pianist and songwriter Mari Sild. Her playing has been described as “Silky, wavelike… So full of Baltic good sorcery. Through her fingers she conveys something of the pastoral magic of Estonia and of its maritime energy…. with the purity of the Nordic light” (Andre Seleanu, Art Critic). In addition to her own project, Mari’s collaborations such as with the world jazz musician Namori Cisse have led her to perform at Rimouski Jazz Festival and Kaleido Festival, among others. Mari was the singer and pianist for the Montreal-New York jazz train project. Mari has performed in numerous venues in Canada and toured in Estonia and Brazil. Love for nature and complex landscapes of emotion are some of the underlying themes in their music.
LES MUSICIENS:
Deny Lester (guitar)
Joseph Hackl (bass)
Adrian Barrera (drums)
Mari Sild (vox, keys)

Mona Lissa is an accomplished vocalist who presents us with a new understanding of the soul of jazz. When she sings our spirits are soothed and heightened at the same time. She is a songwriter in her own right who mingles contemporary pop/rock with timeless classics. Her lilting voice has remarkable range, and is reminiscent of Eartha Kit and Sarah Vaughan with a touch of Berlin Cabaret. This versatile artist merges her own East Indian and German heritage with the never-ending enrichments of traditional jazz. She is a wonderful addition to this ever-evolving medium, supported by her innovative musical collaborators.
MUSICIANS:
Vocals – Mona Lissa Chanda
