The City of Montreal is launching its Cultural Development Project 2017-2022, titled Savoir conjuguer la créativité et l’expérience culturelle citoyenne à l’ère du numérique (Knowing how to combine creativity and citizens’ cultural experience in the digital age).
The City has produced a draft of this policy document, and is now seeking feedback from citizens before the final version is adopted in June 2017.
This policy will shape the next five years of Montreal’s cultural development. ELAN wants to make sure your voice is heard!
At this meeting, we’ll bring you up to date on the proposed policy, summarize the issues at stake, and invite you to share your thoughts. Your insights and feedback will be incorporated into ELAN’s brief to be deposited in mid-March.

Aims of the Policy
Aligned with the City’s ambition to be one of the leading intelligent and digital cities, the Policy involves three principles of action: to gather, to stimulate, and to promote Montreal’s creativity (rayonner). It proposes to create and stimulate an environment conducive to the creation, dissemination, export and use (appropriation) of diverse expressions of culture, by and for the citizen.
With objectives and priorities of action, the policy is divided into three major cultural projects:
- Cultural and creative entrepreneurship
- Digital technology in service of the citizen’s cultural experience
- A vivre ensemble (coexisting in harmony) incarnated in cultural districts
Public consultations: March and April 2017
Objective: adopt a final version of the policy which will bring together the forces of Montreal, cultural metropolis, in June 2017.

Part 1: Information session, presentation and Q&A – March 2 at 7 PM
To ask a question during the Q&A, you must register 30 minutes before the beginning of the session or communicate with the Service du greffe (514 872 3000 or commissions@ville.montreal.qc.ca). Registration will also be possible during the break following the presentation.
Part 2: Presentations of briefs and opinions
March 23 (1:30 PM), April 6 (1:30 and 7 PM), April 10 (1:30 and 7 PM), and April 13 (1:30 PM). Additional dates will be scheduled if there is high demand.
